Your New Year's Eve?

So 2008 is coming to a close. I hate hate hate New Year's. Hate it. It's always a bust and I'm a pretty pessimitic person so I often do not feel that the coming new year brings good things with it; just more of the same. So tonight, I will have a beer, a Gravol, some junk food and a good movie. I will kiss my boyfriend at midnight and I will go to sleep. Not alot of crazy-ness, but this is how I like to spend "special nights".

What are you all up to? Parties? Dinners? Going somewhere special? Visiting family/friends? Renting an oldie but a goodie? Tell us what you're doing!!

I am taking the kids to First Night.

Usually, I do nothing....but this year I thought what the heck. It might be fun.

We've never massively celebrated New Year in my family either. We'll watch a film, eat some snacks, maybe break out the Scrabble board, then go to bed after midnight. Got to be conservative when my dad usually goes to bed at 9pm  ;D

This year will be no exception, but I'm sort of celebrating on New Year's Day with two of my lovely ex-schoolfriends, their boyfriends and my boyfriend; we're having a buffet dinner and cocktails and forcing the men to wear shirts.  >:D

I will be attempting to socialize at a party where I have already confirmed there will be single men...with any luck, one of them might get drunk enough to kiss me...*sigh* I'm not much of a "partier" and I don't do well trying to socialize with new people..but I am sincerly trying to make 2009 a better year and I figure going out tonight and having a great time will be the catalyst for that!

my friends wanna drink since i've never been to a new years party. but i do not like parties and i also made a prior commitment to my gramma. she's really lonely cause her husband passed away a few years ago so she lives by herself. but i'm assuming she might fall asleep pretty early. i might play team fortress 2.

why not do both?  i'm sure if your grandma would enjoy your company she'd really love a housefull of underage boys!  get drunk with her!  she'll spill all the family secrets and probably knows some good drink recipes!

He's 22, not underage! Great idea, partying it up with Gramma and the boys.

Nothing special and no one to kiss at midnight. :'(  I rented Burn after Reading and bought a bottle of bubbly.

that sounds like the worst idea ever.
i'm actually downloading the curious case of benjamin button, so maybe i'll watch that tonight.
not much into drinking because i don't like people reminding how stupid i was. i get enough of that already.

sorry jbb, i assumed you were a freshman in college for some reason..

my friend is coming over, we're gonna order some sushi and drink wine then i got 3 parties to hit.. thankfully the last one is in my building so that makes the end of my night easier.  (but i kinda just wanna hibernate)

happy early bday fly - don't get too down about being alone, it can be really nice to just do what you wanna do and eat what you wanna eat!

Boring here too, staying in, reading and possibly watch a movie. Doubt I will make it to midnight to be honest. I don't think I have done anything special on NYE since 1999/2000, and even then it was with morbid curiosity to see if the world was going to end once the ball dropped!

No plans for me to go out.
Weather is brutal here already.
High winds and Ice.

Received a nice bottle of wine as a gift.

So I will be online or watching a movie later.

Do feel better knowing I am not the only one being a shut in tonight.  :)

well i'm flattered you considered the back of my head to at least look enough to be in college. i get mistaken for college freshman or highschooler a lot.
so thank you  ;D

During my 20s, my friend's birthday was on either the 31st or 1st (I can't remember anymore) and we went out to a club every year with a group of people.  Then in my 30s I spent New Year's Eve at my friends house and we'd drink, eat and play card games (holla, lubi!).

As a commuter, I go to bed early.  Now when I go to bars with my friends I inevitably take a nap in my car at some time during the night.  None of you are surprised.  I guess it's good that I live hella far away from my friends, so I'll be at home.  Alone.  I'm looking forward to it.  Especially since I feel ill and would very much like to puke right now.

Happy New Year everyone  :D I hope you all had fun (& safe) nights.

It was really hot yesterday so we went to a water slide/theme park for the whole day and it was surprisingly fun (not a big water park kinda girl) and there i was racing to line up with the 10 yr olds for all the speed slides  :)

Had a quiet night last night, made some bean tacos, watched a movie and went to bed at 10pm - new years eve is not such a big deal to me anymore, when I was younger it would be such an anti-climax - I would get all hyped up for the night and then feel disappointed like it was a bit of a let down, I dont miss New Years Day hangovers!

Wishing you all the very best for 2009  :)

I've been at work since 6:45am and will be here until 8:45am tomorrow morning.  At least the base offers a great view of the "orange" dropping and the fireworks.  DH will be underway keeping stupid drunken boaters safe.  So, no :-* this year.  :'(
