I am wanting to find a vegan food pyramid to help me with planning meals in a way that I know we are getting enough nutrients.
I was wondering
do any of you guys use a food pyramid?
If so, where did you find it?
Is it neccessary to use a food pyramid to ensure proper nutrition?
If not, how do you do it?
umm...that's all :D

I like this one!
I don't really use it though. I just try to base my meals on veggies (esp. leafy greens), fruits, beans, the occasional whole grains, and a smattering of healthy fats. As long as you are eating a variety, and taking your B12, you're good!
I looked at this one:

after we first went vegan, and tried to follow it. They have posters and such things you can buy: veganfoodpyramid.com
BUT, it's definitely not necessary to use it for proper nutrition...once you learn what you need to eat. You know, lots of fruit and vegetables...quite a few grains...legumes...etc.!
This looks like a good page too: http://www.chooseveg.com/vegan-food-pyramid.asp
Also, your body will tell you what it's needing!
eta: KMK, ;D :-*
oh I'm not that crazy about that one, I would take out the dairy subs & put them in the top & put the legumes, bean, seeds group right down next to the grain one. That seems healthier to me.

Well, I think that "level" is like the protein level...as long as you get enough all together...I think you're good. I :iloveyou: soy.

Agreed. Good call!
thanks....personally I found that (at least when I was a meat eater) and I tried to follow that regular food guide pyramid, it was ridiculous. I gained weight, and my grocery bill was insane. Personally... I don't think I can eat all that in a day. I do eat a variety though, so it's good to know that's enough.
