The healthy veg~ Zone diet?

Very dedicated to healthy bodies and minds here... I absolutely LOVE this website, and love hearing everyones' recipe reviews. That said-why is it that 50% of the featured recipes are high in fat, sugar and / or other unhelthy byproducts? We choose not to consume animal products for various reasons but are we not all in agreeance that its all about basic health? I have been on a "Zone"-like diet for a year now, (a diet made up of 25% fats, 35% protein, and 45% carbs) I have lost over 50 lbs. on this diet and am DESPERATE for new veg recipes...anyone one know of some good ones? THE MORE DARING AND ADVENTUROUS THE BETTER!

have you used this website? They have some pretty yummy things on it.

Hi mel053086,
I'm vegan and have been doing the zone diet now for about 1.5 months.  The diet has been very successful for me.  I had a hard time figuring out what to eat at first, but now I've got a pretty nice repertoire of meals.  I've found the book Zone Perfect Cookbook by Kristy Walker very useful.  The entire book is available for free on google books.  Here is a link http://tinyurl.com/2u4lx6.  The cookbook isn't vegan or even vegetarian, however, it contains several good recipes that are vegan or almost vegan.  A few of my favorites from the book are:
Tofu Hot Dogs with Lentils p. 85 (3 hot dogs instead of 2, leave out the soy cheese since vegan cheese doesn't count as protein)
Smokey Tofu Stir-Fry p. 91
Boca Burger Chili p. 92
Tofu Pup with Avocado p. 170 (I use 1/2 of a mountain bread wrap instead of a tortilla)

One other thing, I do a 40% carb, 30% protein, 30% fat zone diet (which is what these recipes are as well).

Basically, my 1 block snacks while I'm at work are always as follows:
3 raw almonds, 1.25 oz of Soy Deli Honey Sesame Baked Tofu, & 1 block fruit for carb (clementine, 1/2 an apple, 1/2 cup of grapes, kiwi)

I get a 1 block evening snack too, for that, I typically do a smoothie:
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1/2 cup of Silk Unsweetened Soymilk (or other soy milk with more protein than carbs)
couple dashes of Cinnamon
2 tsp of Nutribiotic Chocolate Rice Protein Powder (or other protein powder, just make sure you end up with 7g of protein)
.5 tsp of Organic Peanut Butter

I track what I eat on thedailyplate.com, here is a link to my profile: http://www.thedailyplate.com/users/profile/hopalongkg/
At the bottom of the page, there is a list of meals & recipes I've entered.  If I eat something a lot, I typically end up entering it as a meal or a recipe.  You can check that out for ideas as well.

I haven't found a whole lot on the internet geared specifically toward vegan zone diet.  I'd appreciate hearing your favorite vegan/zone meals if you don't mind sharing them.
