Ladies...is this weird? Have I missed something?

So the other day I bought some sanitary pads at LIDL, and on the packaging it says, "With Avocado and Aloe Vera!"  :o

Avocado? On/in a sanitary pad? Where, exactly?

I examined the outer packaging hoping for a clue, but there was none; just a twee little drawing of an avocado and the words "aloe vera" and an arrow, pointing to the pad itself.

I looked; it is neither smeared with avocado, nor is it green. No special smell, even. It's just your normal, everyday, slightly cheaper-than-most sanitary pad with "wings."

Europe has gone "natural extract mad" though. I saw a stupid Herbal Essences shampoo that claimed to be made with "100% organic fruit!" the other day. Permit me to doubt this.

That is totally bizarre. The only thing I can think of this that they are claiming to give your ladyparts some kind of appealing fruit taste. I really don't know. I use a Mooncup because the insane variety of sanitary pads disturbs me so.

Enjoy your avocado, I suppose  ;D

Seriously, I think companies are just jumping on the "all natural" crazy and attempting tolure customers in with it--seriously, why? Why would you stick avocado into a sanitary napkin?? That is a total dissconnect for me!

I will have to take a peak next time I go into LIDL...quite strange isnt it...

I stopped using all that when I discovered the mooncup (Diva cup in the USA)...no need for sanitary napkins or tampoons ever again...I got mine at Boots. Its healthier, more comfy, n wholesome goodness for the environment too  ;)b

Cups aren't available here...I toyed with the idea of home made sanitary towels but...no, thanks.
JulBio, the pads with the avocado are a LIDL house brand, called "Siempre" here which is Spanish for "Always"...but I kinda think they aren't the real "Always" brand, which AFAIK is not specific to LIDL....

Yes, I am totally confuzed.... ::)

yabbitgirl --- according to my husband, LIDL and ALDI get major companies to make products for them and they simple change their names and pass off as generics that way they can sell it cheaper. I dont remember what he said about why they do it like that...(notice the "specially  made for LIDL" note somewhere on the package), so I would not be surprised if it was Always undercover (way too much of a coincidence with the name too)...My in laws have a whole book about it in German...couldnt tell you much about it bc I have not mastered the German language yet  :-\  They seem to know a lot about both chains, so I'll have a chat with them about it...

Permit me to doubt this.

Permitted :)

But Seriously, I love this phrase - I am so adding it to my sayings - it can be used so often, LOL!

It comes from the Italian: Permette che dude. I picked it up from a book on Michelangelo.

I would guess they are using it to prevent chaffing?  Sanitary pad rash? Gimmick to snag new customers?

How totally silly!

"Pray soften my vagina, sanitary pads."

Weird.

...So you're saying that you don't put guacamole on your parts?
I thought everyone did this!

Not during my period, no... :-D

Yeah, it's weird seeing superfoods being added to things that aren't food. If there's avocado pads, we need:

tofu pads
goji pomegranate panty liners
omega 3 tampons (flax not fish, of course, for the treehuggers they're marketing for)

Speaking of things that don't belong, I heard recently that some peanut butter has fish oil in it now.
WTF?!
:boooo: :nono: :stop!:

ooh I heard about that way back last year some time someone posted about it. I think it was pretty in punk.

People are getting all weird about Omega 3's and fish oils.  Which I meant to ask, since I've been gone for so long, how do we veggies get omega 3's and do we need them? I got veg*n dumb while I was gone.

ETA: Is it weird that the first 3 threads I read on vegweb tonight were talking about menstruation?

Maybe by being on the boards long enough together our cycles are coinciding, making us chat about menstruation at the same time?

You know, like the effect of living with other women.

I always wonder about cloistered convents...you know, 75 women shut up together, all PMSing at the same time.... :o (No wonder they have confession!)

Preach it, sister.

And I bet they thank God for vows of silence. :-D
