What DVD are you watching lately?

I have BBC's Persuasion on, but I can't really get into. I've heard thought that BBC's Sense & Sensibility is good. Of course I"ve watched the Ang Lee Emma Thompson version which is superb... I may get it this week to see :P
Halloween (2007)
Rob Zombie remake. I thought it was awesome (for a horror movie)! Rob Zombie knows how to make a horror. I don't have any attachment to the original movies, so my thoughts on this are solely on its own. Long, and slightly drawn out, but good.
Yes! Excellent film, AC. I could've done without the rape scene, though. I hate rape scenes.
I just watched V for Vendetta. Again. Always amazing! :)

Wow, I totally have to see RZ's Halloween now, after all these accolades. Love his tunes, old and new, and kinda liked Devil's Rejects. But I discounted the Halloween remakes because the originals are so cheesy now. Though I hate rape scenes as well.
So far as V for Vendetta, blew chunks! BUT Zack Galafinakus's "Between Two Ferns" interview with Natalie Portman with lines like "V For Vagina" was AWESOME!!!
Devil's Rejects is cool! I like Zombie's nods to classics like Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes, etc in his style of filmmaking. You can tell these are the types of films he loved and studied.
And Charlie, the original Halloween is not cheesey! It's awesome!!
Coco Before Chanel (Audrey Tautou). Excellent performances as always, though a bit slow. Tautou still says more with her eyes than her lips.

I'm sorry no one like V for Vendetta. Haha! Kidding. To each their own. But I do agree the Halloween movies by Zombie were and are great. I'm also a fan of his House of 1000 Corpses. I read somewhere, the house they used in that movie was on the same street as where The Burbs was filmed. Anyone remember that movie?

I love that whole series of films!
Finished watching "Coco Before Chanel"...the end was disappointing. Not in itself but because they sort of patched on an end with no continuity. I got the feeling they had started to make a miniseries and couldn't and they just kind of ended it there. Tautou is perfect though.

I agree probably not horror, thought it was pretty horrific. Really good! All acting was great. John Goodman looks horrible!! I thought it was oddly slow in a few places (mainly when the preacher is talking/that sermon/singing), but otherwise great. Almost Tarantino-esque. 4/5
New Town Killers
Took me like a week off and on to finish this. Despite being a "thriller" with action, it was just so boring to me. Nothing too original, nothing very surprising. Pretty long, to boot. 2/5

Yeah, the preacher's sermon was oddly drawn out but that's totally Kevin Smith's "thing". Passionate characters with ridiculous monologues. I think that even though it felt drawn out, it helped define what kind of person they were dealing with. There weren't many other scenes that surely solidified how strongly they believed what they did. Anyway, I agree completely with your review. I gave it a 4/5 as well!

Does anyone else arrange their Netflix queue(s)? I drag and arrange mine by genre's, then I arrange within that by rating. So, each genre is arrange by descending star rating!

There is not enough told in this. If I'm going to watch something for 1 1/2 hours+, then I want more conclusion/explained. More potential than follow through. I would have given this a 2.5, but leaned toward 3, because a lot of the reviews say "you must pay close attention, or you'll miss the story.." Maybe I missed it...
