Peanut Butter Cocoa Banana Smoothie
1 banana (frozen or room temperature), chopped
vanilla nondairy milk, as desired
2 tablespoons flax meal
2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1. Choose the size of glass. Place banana in glass.
2. Pour milk over banana, into the glass, to the level preferred in glass. Pour soymilk, and banana into blender.
3. Measure in flax meal, cocoa powder, and peanut butter.
4. Blend for approximately. 20 seconds on various speeds. I start with the blend setting, and then transfer to whip, and last do the frappe. The idea is to have the liquid look frothy. I look for bubbles on the top. Pour into the original glass, and enjoy!
This is a great source of potassium, protein, calcium, B-12 (if using fortified milk), and omega-3s from the flax meal. It is a great start to a day, along with a yummy bowl of granola or oatmeal. This is a great smoothie for breakfast or as a snack.
SO HOW'D IT GO?
i just made something like this and it was so yummy and hit the spot. the proportions i used were: 1/2 c unsweetened soymilk, 1/4 c pb (i used white chocolate wonderful flavor by peanut butter & co. if you live in NYC area, GET IT!), 1 Tbsp cocoa pwd, ~3/4 froz banana. next time i will add the flax meal. mmm very peanut buttery!
DELICIOUS! I added a splash of agave because I just used plain old rice milk and didn't want it to be plain... but I kinda think it didn't need it, the banana would add enough sweetness. Nice treat. I was craving something sweet and this was perfect and it took me literally a minutes to prepare! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds really good. I have never made smoothie with peanut butter. Especially not the Banana Smoothie, as that is one of my favourite and I like it the old classic way.
I am gonna try this recipe now.
me and my non vegan brother LOVED it :) i didnt have flax though but it was still good, and i added some ice cubes
This was yummy! The texture that the flax seeds added made me feel like I had used crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy, which made it more filling for me (a purely fluid texture just doesn't fill me up- I need something I can chew on :-P ). I would def recommend this to my friends. In fact, I think I'll make one for my housemate to try later!
Very tasty, though with the amount of peanut butter suggested I had to add another banana to balance it out.
This came out nice. Thx for the recipe
pretty decent, I used about 2/3 - 1 cup of soy milk and added a bit of suger. Pretty thick, and very heavy tasting. all in all not bad.
I don't make this exact recipe, but when I make my version of a PB/banana/carob smoothie, I find it's nice to throw in a teaspoon or so of instant coffee powder. It add's a little somethin' somethin'. Also, a pinch of salt can help bring out the PB flavor. Or even a pinch of cinnamon. Or all three!
I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but this just didn't turn out for me. I had the flax, omitted the peanut butter (I had none) and put in a bit of sweetener. It just didn't work for me. It was too thick or something.. maybe I'll add more Silk next time to even it out.
