Nair? Waxing? Laser hair removal? Just going "natural"?

OR...you could smear peanutbutter on your pits and then release a bunch of peanut eating buggies and hope they will eat the hair follicles too!!!!! :D Then you'd be killing two birds with one stone, feeding the hungry and getting rid of that hair! ;)

I use one of those epil things. It looks like an electric shaver, but it pulls the hair out. Yes, it hurts A LOT the first time you use it. After removing the hair use some aftershave to sooth the skin. If you keep at it every week wheather you really need to or not, the hair doesn't get a chance to really hang on, and they are less painful to remove.

I did the laser thing last year and have been pretty happy with it. I have had a life time hatred of my hair. Not just the hair but the problems it has caused me. I am like Sasquatch girl :D . A lot of my follicles have two hairs growing out of them and the hair is really coarse so I would constantly have ingrown hairs and cysts from infections. I waxed for about three years which helped some w/ the ingrown hair problem but it cost me about $80 a month. So about three years ago I bit the bullet and put down $3,000 for laser hair remova (legs, bikini, and pits)l. I am still not perfectly smooth but I can go w/o shaving every week and I haven't had an ingrown hair or cyst since I started so I am happy. :)

listen to Tanevab! The laser hair thing is the best ever! Doesn't even hurt all that much. I'm going through it now, and am seeing amazing results.
Although over here its not nearly as expensive! 3,000 bucks?! YIKES! :o

Since I'm fair skinned and fair haired laser doesn't work for me. I have to deal with electrolysis!
I haven't ventured to getting it done on my pits yet, but I get it done on my chin and lip...it's much slower than laser, much more painful but it's the only method of hair removal that is allowed to be called permanent. It really does work.

I had laser treatments on the hair growing on my jaw line and chin. It didn't work very well for me. What I understand about the laser used on me is that it works best on dark hair. My hair's weird. It looks dark as a mass but with individual hairs when you hold them up to the light they will look dark at one angle and very light almost blond from another angle. So the laser light evidently didn't travel all the way down the shaft to zap the roots on a lot of the hairs. It did get about 15% of them by my estimation. It cost me $100 a session and the place closed down (the "Dr." moved to California) before I had the sixth and last treatment. So be aware that there are a lot of variables involved and a lot can cause it not to work. I read an article on MSNBC a few weeks back about laser hair removal that contended that more people are dissatisfied with it than are happy with the results. Definitely a case of YMMV. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't waste the money!

Laser treatments also don't tend to last as long on the face for women since this area tends to be more prone to hormonal hair growth.

I also get electrolysis. I have had my bikini line done, any unwanted facial hair, arm pits and now am doing my lower legs. I hate shaving. I thought arm pits would really hurt because waxing did before vacations. It is really nothing. At least with electrolysis, it is permanent. People that do laser apparently have to go for touch ups from time to time (my sister does -she had underarms done). I am just about done with my pits. She checks them about every 4 months because I can't see anything. Smooth as can be. My legs are going well too and I haven't shaved my legs in months and months. Won't need many more treatments on them. I am fair also so maybe it is good that I didn't try laser. I don't think I have a high tolerance for pain but have actually fallen asleep on the table while she has been working on me. For any of you that have a couple of hairs on your big toes or toes, electrolysis is the way to go. As well, I have very thick eyebrows and used to have to pluck in between my eyes on my nose. I thought that hurt like h*ll. She removed those hairs with electrolysis and shaped my eyebrows. Still keeping them thick because they suit me. Just removing the stray under and over hairs. Although costly, I have never regretted getting any of it done. As I mentioned in a post months ago, my mom is in a nursing home and they actually have shaved her face. My mom having Alzheimer's and not aware of what they were doing. I never want to be in that situation. Hairy and in a nursing home. So, I am a little anal about unwanted hair.

I have a friend who got the laser treatment done and loved the results... until she got pregnant and all the grew hair back, not to mention other areas that hadn't even had hair before. :o Anyway, if you're planning on having children in the future it might be a waste of money doing laser before that. (Don't know about the electrolysis.)

Wax. The first time hurts, I won't lie. The second time is quite fine, and after that I could pull the hairs out with my fingers and I didn't feel a thing. However, I really needed to wax at least one more time because not all the hair came out by pulling on it/playing with it, but we ran out of wax. So I shaved, and undid all that good work. Get a good quality wax, the cheap ones are poos (not literally), but watch out for bees wax.

Not necessarily. I waxed at least once a month for two years straight w/ no shaving in between and it never got any better. It all depends on how deeply rooted and how much hair you have to begin with. I also still got ingrown hairs w/ waxing. Not as many as w/ shaving, but still a few a month.
