BBQ Tofu Cubes
What you need:
1 tablespoon oil
1 pound firm tofu, drained and diced
2/3 cup vegan BBQ sauce
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce (I use low sodium)
Louisiana hot sauce, to taste
1 tablespoon sugar
What you do:
1. Heat oil in frying pan and add tofu. Saute on medium until the tofu starts to turn a light golden color.
2. Meanwhile, combine the rest of the ingredients, and heat them in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir this sauce and add it to the tofu.
3. Continue to cook on medium until the sauce has gotten very thick.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
Mmmmm.....I can smell this cooking in the kitchen right now :-D
I can't wait until it's ready so I can devour it
These are soooooooooooooo yummy! Super quick and easy, and everyone I fed these to loved loved loved them. I'll totally make these again!
Your dad rocks. I have used my little Foreman-type grill for this kind of thing before, it works fine, but the crispiness of cooking it in a pan is yummy.
I am very picky about bbq sauce (my dad used to make a giant pot of it on my birthday each year that was all organic and so good and nothing else ingredient/taste wise has compared!) but trader joes' bbq sauce in the glass bottle is a pretty good substitute so I hope with htat and my last bit of firm (all i had) tofu will taste good...Can I george foreman this or does it have to be pan fried?
Thanks so much for this!
This was my first SUCCESS story with tofu; all my rest used to fail terribly. >.<
I cut the tofu into smaller cubes than usual, but I like nibbling on them. :) I have some left-overs for today as well!
I also used regular tofu instead of firm; worked the same.
or try a Carolina style sauce they are vinegar based not so much tomato based so i would assume not so sweet. Just ask someone at your grocery store to point it out or call around to make sure they have some. If you type in Carolina bbq sauce recipe or vinegar based bbq sauce on google, you will find a bunch of recipes and make one. I don't know where you are located so you may have to make your own, good luck on the perfect bbq sauce hunt.
i've never eaten "real" barbeque in my life... is it supposed to be so sweet? any sauce that ive tried seems soo sweet.
Is there a good brand of BBQ sauce anyone can recommend?
Maybe try a "smoky"-style BBQ sauce. I like Diana Sauce, I don't find it is too sweet.
Really good! I had to use Tamari since that's what I had. I ate with steamed broccoli, corn on the cob and rice. A delicious summer meal....and since I live alone I have lots of leftovers! :)
Really yummy, I added fresh broccoli, red pepper, onions and some pineapple. Served over basmati rice. I used Trader Joe's barbeque sauce, its really good. Alos this is pretty easy and fast.
These were delicious even my meat-eating husband enjoyed them thanks!!
