Better than Sex Chocolate Chip Cookies

What you need:

1 cup vegan margarine, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream the margarine and sugar with a hand mixer (or by hand) until fluffy. Add the molasses and vanilla and incorporate.
2. Add the dry ingredients to this mixture and mix until a dough forms. Fold the chocolate chips into the dough.
3. Roll dough into 1" balls or drop by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until mildly browned.
4. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Then transfer to cooling racks, cool and enjoy!

I am glad that I tried this recipe. Although I did have to modify just as others had to, I really loved the way these turned out. I too have had a harder time perfecting other recipes and I'd have to say that this one is going to be my mainstay.

MODIFICATIONS:

I used only 1 cup sugar and 1 cup of chocolate chips (you could definitely use less depending on your preference).

I added 1/2 cup soymilk at the end because the mixture was very dry.

I flattened the cookies out a little because the first batch I baked was shaped more like a biscuit.

Thanks for the de-lish vegan recipe!  ;)b

These cookies are incredible!!! better than sex......i don't know about that....but they are REALLY good!!! The taste is one of the best chocolate chip cookies i have ever had. I thought that the amount of sugar and chocolate chips would be too much, but i wanted to make the recipe as is. The dough alone was excellent. I did have to flatten the cookies out as they didn't spead into cookie shape, but other than that. These were excellent. VERY VERY GOOD. This is a keeper....will definately make again.

Holy lord these are GOOD!  Closest thing I've found to the old-school Tollhouse cookie recipe!  I only put in 2 cups of flour (used whole wheat), and added just a little bit of vanilla soy milk.  They are excellent (I say as I'm eating cookie #4).  Great recipe!

These are fantastic!!! I made them for Christmas to share with the family. They were a hit!! However, opinions varied on whether they were indeed better than sex. I suppose it depends on the sex. They are some really good cookies though. I went heavy on chocolate chips. You can never have too much chocolate.  ;)b

:D ... WOW. You are really onto something here. This makes one seriously soft, rich cookie- different than other vegan chocolate chip cookie recipes I've tried. And luckily, with your clever title, I'll never forget where to find the recipe again!  ;)b

Now, everyone be warned, these are BUTTERY. I can literally taste the margarine after the cookie is cooked. Beware of adding soymilk though, because this would take away from the soft texture that makes this cookie great, imo. Just add the flour slowly, being careful not to add too much, so that you have a soft dough, not crumbly (of course, you don't want a dry cookie). The trick is to make sure your margarine is really soft and room temperature. I'm thinking adding a little toffuti cream cheese in place of a little bit of the margarine might be a nice touch too, as it is pretty buttery, which may turn some people off.

Good cookies though, I can eat waaay too many of these.

        Great recipe!
I used brown sugar and Earth Balance, which gave the batter a fantastically caramel-y taste.

Made one batch according to the recipe and also had the dough dryness problem. I made another batch right after and altered it slightly:

added 1/2 cup of soymilk to the sugar/margarine mixture
used only 2 and 1/3 cups of flour
used only about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips
used only 1 cup of sugar

The dough is so good, it doesn't need all of the sweetness of the chips/sugar.
Will definitely use this recipe again!! (Although, I prefer the name "Better'n Sex"--hahaha)

I had to add some soy milk in order to get the dough to actually look like dough and not like powder. :o I also decreased the chocolate chip amount to 3/4 cup, and the sugar to 3/4 cup. They were so good - not too sweet, and just the right amount of chocolate chips. My non-veg cousins thought they tasted pretty fantastic! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I substituted a mashed banana for 1 stick of butter and added walnuts.  If you don't mind a subtle hint of banana they are great....a perfect mix of a chewy chocolate chip and a little cakey.

these are SO good! it was a bit too chocolaty for me and my buddies so I made another batch using 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Also I added about 3/4 cup (I just eyeballed it so I'm not exactly sure) vanilla soy milk.  ;)b
