SO HOW'D IT GO?

I really want to make these but could the cornmeal be left out? I'm allergic to corn  :(

The burgers tasted really good. But I think next time I'll bake them like others suggested. They ended up falling apart on me and my dh said they tasted more like sandwhiches then burgers. They were kinda mushy.

Sorry, I didn't like them. They were too mushy. Did I do something wrong? Does anyone have a recipe for a firmer veggie burger from scratch?

if you're still interested, i like these: http://vegandad.blogspot.com/2008/02/perfect-tempeh-burgers.html

he uses vital wheat gluten as a binder, which makes it firmer, imo. i don't use fennel, thyme, or sage, just a lot of onion powder, garlic powder, and parsley.

i want to try these black bean burgers using vital wheat gluten instead of the flour. i'll report back when i do.

these rule pretty hard- i baked instead of frying because im a big baby and they fell apart a little but the flavor was spot on- most burgers that people make are flavorless like beans outta a can- but not these boys.

I thought this recipe was wonderful.  I got ten good size burgers from this recipe.  My husband did not like them.  He said that they tasted like soap :o  I seem to remember a thread on the forum mentioning that some people think cilantro taste like soap...apparently he is one of them. Oh well.

Oh and I baked mine for about 20 minutes..ten minutes on each side in  a 350f oven.

cool, thanks! I'm also going to try to figure out how much soaked dried beans to use instead of canned

I tend to use one cup cooked beans = 1 can.  I don't know if this is even vaguely right but whenever I make this recipe, I kinda eyeball the quantities - one of the reasons this recipe is so great is because it's so versatile.

This recipe looks good, but it relaly makes a lot. Has anyone tried feezing them? I'm thinking it would be nice to make a big btach & then keep them in the freezer for easy dinners later. Should I cook them first or freeze them uncooked?

I freeze them all the time, uncooked.  Just form them into patties and stick them in the freezer. I even fry or bake them from frozen. Works wonderfully.
