Monas Chewy Good n Gooey Pecan Brownies

What you need:

2 cups unbleached flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vegan cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chocolate soy milk
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans, more or less! (optional)

What you do:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350, and pop in your pecans (or other nuts) before you chop em. Theyll get roasty and smell good, and be better for the brownies.
2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt in one bowl.
3. Add milk, oil, vanilla extract.
4. Chop up nuts (food processor) and stir them in as well. Mix it all up well! Youll get a consistency that's suspiciously like frosting. But that's good!
5. Grease and flour (or cocoa) a 9X13 inch pan. Pour your mix in there.
6. Bake for 25-30 mins. Theyre done when the top is kind of firm.
7. You should really let em cool for 10-20 mins before cutting into them because they're SO gooey. But if you like em like that, dig in right away!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Honestly, I really did not like these brownies. I really wanted to, but they just don't taste like they should. Plus the sugar content is waaay to much and the amount of oil used is ridiculous! I wasted a bunch of ingredients on this recipe, but at least I'm glad to know NOT to make these again. Sorry. For those of you that DO like this recipe, I'm glad. It just wasn't for me :)

Wow!  I was really needing a chocolate fix and this was perfect!  I made these in the mini muffin pan and got about 30 mini muffin size brownies, baked them for about 15-18 minutes at 350 degrees.  I followed the recipe exactly as stated. I didn't see the salt listed but I put in 1/4 tsp of salt. I did use a 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts instead of pecans and also 1/2 cup of dried cranberries. These were great!

These were good, but they're definately not my favourite. They weren't chewy and gooey :\ just meh.

This recipe was great.  We thought these were the best brownies we had ever had.  Put vanilla ice cream on top--Yum!

I've made these twice... and both times have failed.

Judging by the overwhelming amount of positive reviews for this recipe, I KNOW I'm the one who screwed up. I don't know where I went wrong! Ugh!! My brownies were rich, but dry. They had the consistency more of cake than brownies, and the cocoa powder taste was noticeable. They weren't disgusting; in fact, they were somewhat tasty. But they were the furthest thing from moist, gooey, and indulgent like brownies are supposed to be.

Does omitting the pecans affect the brownies on a significant level? Both times I skipped pecans because I was out of them. The first time I didn't substitute with anything, and the second time I used cocoa nuts instead.

I just don't get why my brownies always come out so DRY. Too much cocoa powder or flour, I guess? But I followed the recipe...  :'(

These came out great!!  I used whole wheat flour and unbleached flour.  I added more oil to make it gooier.  I also used walnuts instead of pecans and added chocolate chips.  I'll be making these again.  Super Yummy!!

This recipe saved my life...you should name it the perfect pms brownies :)  I replaced the oil with applesauce and halved the whole recipe because i knew i would be the only one eating it...and it turned out perfect and gooey and the only problem was that i ate the whole pan! Thank you

Awesome!  I posted this so long ago, and I'm so happy it's gotten so much positive feedback.  Isn't it great to fool people who think vegan food is icky? :D
