Quick Smoked tofu
1 pound firm tofu, drained, pressed, and sliced (4-5 slices)
1 teaspoon liquid hickory smoke
2 teaspoons water
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon agave nectar
paprika, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
onion powder, to taste
1. In a small bowl, mix liquid hickory smoke, 2 teaspoons water, molasses and agave.
2. Pour over tofu portions and let sit in fridge, or covered on the counter for 1 hour if you can (not necessary but helps).
3. Once your tofu done marinating, place pieces flat on a baking sheet and rub with dry spices.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes depending on oven, no need to flip.
Yummy, fast, moist and much cheaper than prepared smoked hickory tofu products, with much less salt and sugar and other ingredients. Experiment with marinating overnight or adding a tablespoon of red table wine to the mix.
