Really Good Vegan Raisin Scones

What you need:

2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon turbinado sugar
1/4 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup raisins
3/4-1 cup nondairy milk

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in margarine until crumbles form.
2. Stir in milk and raisins. Drop a spoonful (or make them into cute shapes, like the hearts I made this morning) onto an ungreased baking sheet.
3. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until just brown on top.
Source of recipe: I adapted these from a biscuit recipe on this website; I am sure one could play with the spices/ flavorings here. Please let me know how they turn out!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I made these with pastry flour and chocolate chips because I had those ingredients on hand.
These couldn't be simpler or more delicious!  They only took about 20 minutes total to make, and they were nice and light.  I can't wait to experiment with different flavors.

Yum! I changed the recipe a bit but followed most of it. I used 1 cup gluten free flour and 1 cup of flax seed meal, mashed banana in replacement of the margarine, and 1/4 mix of peanuts and chocolate pieces for the raisins. The rest of the recipe i followed. I've never had a scone but, they are quite large and what I imagine a scone would taste like. I made 10 scones.

Yep, these were easy to make and turned out well!  I took advice from others and added a little vanilla, some cinnamon and nutmeg and some chopped dried apricots in addition to the raisins.  I meant to add some ground flax but forgot -- that would probably be a good way to make them slightly more healthy.  I recommend trying out this recipe!

I've made twice already, I used unbleached self-rising flour.  Good taste, but they came out like cookies instead.  Did changing the flour make that big of a diffference?  Help please!!!! :'(

I just made these.  They are really good and versatile.  I added about 1/4 cup of maple syrup and a pinch of allspice.  YUMMY. I'm enjoying one right now with a cup of Rooibos tea.
My four year old loves it and I will definitely make these again.

these are really simple and quick. I used half whole wheat flour and half all purpose flour. once they were done, I poured a little vanilla glaze (the vegweb recipe) over each of them for a sweet finishing touch.

This is a really good recipe for variations! I tried raspberry-chocolate and they were excellent.

I haven't tried this yet because I don't like raisins. Is there a way I could make the scones without raisins? Do I just take them out or what?
Please respond. Thanks.

I don't like raisins either so I understand. It helps to read all the comments though. I wrote a recipe review on page one and listed my variations on the "raisin scones." Raisins, like chocolate chips, are something that can almost always be left out of a recipe.  ;)

Thanks I'll try them today =)
