Companion Animals:
Until I moved into Boston I shared a domicile with 8, no 9, no 10 - sometimes 12-13 cats and some fruit flies during the summertimes. Now, I live alone, well, with 300 other Bostonians in an urban high-rise cooperative (common in NYC but uncommon in Boston, but "it's the way to go").
I'm concerned with how 'pet stewardship' (OWNING 'companion animals') rationalizes sacrificing the natural rights of some animals (unforunately called 'food animals') for OTHER (more individually preferred) animals luckly called 'pets' - which is all about power relationships and the wishes of those who have more power to dominate some animals/sentient beings in favor of other animals/sentient beings.
