Hope to come back soon...
Aah... SO.
I haven't been on here for months, and months, and months.... I doubt anybody will even remember when I was here lol, but the thing is I have fallen heavily off the vegan wagon & the guilt is HORRIBLE.
Just before I stopped posting here I would be looking in the fridge for something to eat & wondering why the hell I really, really wanted to eat the cheese that my partner had in there, even though I'd been completely vegan for 2 1/2 years & hadn't missed dairy, or any animal products, with all the substitutes there are available.... then I found out I was pregnant, not just that, but I was already 14 weeks!!
I started eating dairy & drinking milk as I really craved it & could not think of anything else... and I always thought that was a cop-out, an excuse to eat what you want instead of sticking to your ethics, but I can't describe the compulsion to have this stuff, I NEEDED it & just the idea of things (vegan things) I would normally eat made me want to throw up.
Anyway, from there, with crazy craving swings, it was just a hop, skip & jump to eating meat. I know, I know, stone me. I deserve it.
Basically I am due any day now & am counting on my appetite going back to normal & being able to focus again on my ethics & vegan princapals after my baby is born.
Just came in here today to check out some new recipes & get some inspiration, to see if I could reignite my passion so to speak & I have to say that the photos are looking awesome & there are definately some things I want to try, when I feel like cooking again that is... it's like I've been possessed or something I swear.
Anyway, hi to all you vegan warriors, wish me luck with my journey back to the vegan world, oh & with my impending motherhood lol. ;)
Congratulations on the baby!!!
1) Congratulations on the healthy pregnancy.
2) Don't give yourself grief for listening to your body!!! Especially when you're pregnant! As long as you were/are still eating a "healthy" diet (ie not too much fat/sweets/etc) DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!!!
3) If you haven't already, google vegan parenting and read up.
4) I don't know if you'll be breast feeding or not, there's foods to avoid in those instances like cabbage (gives baby gas=sleepless nights), ANYTHING with caffeine (this includes chocolate) trust me, your breasts will thank you for it, etc.
5) Enjoy the new arrival!
I DO remember you....though I thought you were a guy. :-[ Congrats on the soon to be new arrival. And contrary to popular belief; there is no vegan police. You listened to your body while pregnant and that is what you needed to do. Don't beat yourself up about it. Vegweb will be here to help transition you back into your veganism. ;) Good luck with the baby!

Lauren is right! There are no vegan police! You would be welcome here even if you did eat meat or dairy! Don't feel bad you fell off the wagon--I fell off for 9 years! Just focus on that wonderful baby and your health and when you're ready to go at it again we'll all be here for you!!!
Welcome back and congrats on the baby!
Don't beat yourself up. We won't! :-)
Di
Welcome back, VV! I very nearly said, "Welcome home"...well if it fits, so be it! ;)
Congratulations! And welcome back!

Haha. Same here. Congratulations and welcome back!
lol @ the guy thing... does that mean I come accross as cool & aloof?! ;D
Thanks everyone, it's definately the pregnancy hormones but I am almost crying over here!! I was really quite worried about what people would think, or indeed if I would have a visit from the 'vegan police'... but it seems I've come back (..or home ;)) to the right place.
Am starting to get excited about this whole new chapter in my life (I don't know if I said... my "due date" is tomorrow but I just know I'm going to be overdue..) & getting back to what makes me happy, and believe me, being a commited vegan is something that definately made me happy, so thanks again people, I appreciate it more than I can say...!!
