I am blatantly stealing this thread from the PPK because I like it. It's a thread that makes you feel happy as you realize how much you've learned. All you have to do is finish the sentence:
"Before I was veg*n, I didn't know...."
....how poorly egg-laying chickens are treated.
....how hideous dairy is for your body.
....that you can get protein from SO many other sources than meat or dairy.
....that you don't need eggs and butter to bake.
Your turn! DO IT.
Teehee, I didn't want anyone thinking that I eat birds or people from New Zealand to get my calcium!
I'm sure the bones of people from New Zealand are a good source of calcium too, but probably not vegan ;)

*giggles* Yuh. ;)b AFAIK, before they were named kiwifruit - after the kiwi, as a marketing ploy - they were known as Chinese gooseberries.
Kiwi (correct plural of kiwi) are cute!! See:

Oh good, I'm glad it was new to you. See, something else you didn't know before you were veg*n! Cute animations!
I also didn't know about nutritional yeast before coming here. I scoured the supermarkets and didn't find any. I contemplated ordering online. Then *the magical moment* my other half took me to the city ('cause I live out in the sticks) and bum bum bum!!! There it was!! I snatched it up, paid for it, and put a few flakes in my mouth as soon as we got into the car. OMG. I love it!! I can't wait to make sauces with it.
