If Everyone Became Vegans.....

I was thinking about this last night...what if by some bizarre, genetic occurrence, eating meat or dairy-related products caused humans to become deathly ill. As a result, everyone had to become vegans. How do you think the human race would change, physically and emotionally? Would there be more compassion? Would the situation create more anger and resentment? How would it change our world? Just thought I would toss it out to everyone.
i know we has a thread about this... i am trying to find it... anyone know what i am talking about? i feel like dueceO started it?
I think I do remeber that thread...I think it would be great if we had a vegan world! We might actually see peace through diet :)

Well, first we'd have to stomach all of the mass slaughter's of beef and dairy cows, chickens, etc., because of all the money tied up in their "care" (term used very loosely) and feeding.
After that... I'm sure somebody would mess it up. Copyrighting specific genetic codes on vegetables seems like a good money-making scam...
I may be feeling a bit pessimistic tonight. I'm not sure...
Everyone would be nicer because they would feel so much better.
i think that'd be tough. not for me. but for my boyfriend lol.. no more hunting, no more burgers, no more omelets
he has started to eat better since he met me, but he ate pretty good before anyway. i've started to eat better from being with him. i'm still trying to be 100% vegetarian so i think going all vegan would be a little tough...
but i also think that if that situation happened, i'd be happy about it. no more non-vegan stuff around to tempt me
Most vegetarians we know in this country are a self-selecting group. So it doesn't surprise me that people feel they are kinder and gentler since many are motivated by compassion reasons in the first place.
But if it were imposed not because of inner moral or attitude changes, but simply because of a physical situation, I can't imagine it would make that much difference. I think my brother-in-law would still be a bit of a grouchy jerk, and even more so since he'd be grumpy about no more burgers.
