OK, this is just scary...

There's a big business here in Spain called "Gallina Blanca" (White Hen) that is the since-forever big instant-soup-and-stuff maker. DH likes them and he remarked in passing that the parent company is actually US. I figured maybe Lipton (the cuppa soup people) but he said no, I can't remember. So I googled.

Ye gods...Gallina Blanca is part of Purina!  :o
Knowing as I do how horrible Purina petfoods are (my cat instantly hurled at the smell alone, no joke) I hate to think what they put in their "people food." And hate to think that...uh, maybe...it's the same stuff.

Roadkill soup, anyone?

That...is...slightly offputting to say the least. Do you eat any of their food?

I'm going to prove myself a filthy little so-and-so... but roadkill's better than slaughterhouse meat, right?

I don't think that Purina would have anything to do with making the food for this company.

Just my two cents.  And two cents aren't worth very much.

But in either case, someone insert a puking smiley for me again.

I would have to agree with you.  If I was an animal and I had to die, I'd rather be free and wandering around and have crossing the road at the wrong time be my fault instead of growing up artificially fast in a crate in artificial light.

Purina also makes the tacos at Jack in the Box.  And the stuff inside them really does resemble cat food.  (I've never eaten a Jack in the Box taco, but I worked there for 2 years and had to see/smell them almost daily).

This is what I'm saying. I know from experience that Purina pet foods are the reverse of quality...I just hate to think what's in the people food.

It's probably no worse than the stuff that goes into hot dogs.... ::)

Oh, definitely. I love the line in "Norma Rae" when Ruben asks her what's in the hot dog. "A lot of red dye and other things you don't want to know about."

And that reminds me of a line from The Great Outdoors:  You know what the gourmet here wanted? Hotdogs! You know what they're made of, Chet? Huh? Lips and assholes!

I was an extra in that movie.  I was on set a lot, but in the end you only see the back of my head for a milisecond.  It's in the scene where the two teen love interests first meet while playing pool.  I was one of the lead girl's friends.
