Frackin Frack! I was way busy at work today and forgot to get a card to send to hesp. If I send it tomorrow it'll only have two days to get there. Can a card make it from California to North Carolina in two days?
Maybe if you overnighted it? In my experience it usually takes 3-4 days to go coast to coast (at least from Texas to Seattle).
This is totally off topic, but I just realized that me and hespy have the same b-day. Awesome!
I know its illegal, but there is really no way to prove it. She did ask me about it at the interview. My blazer didnt' hide it as well as I thought! :-[
Last time I started at a new school Noah was a newborn and it worked out fine. I told her this and that I was not concerned about it interfering with my work....she said she is used to having pregnant teachers....
oh well, I had secretly put a message out to the universe to only land me the job if it would be best for my family, and i guess i know deep down it will be better to be home more with the baby. that is why we decided to have another now-since i was not working full time.
hoping that another opportunity comes up in a couple years. for this one she had over 100 applicants!
I think she probably didnt hire me because of the pregnancy thing. >:(
uh, that's illegal. if you have proof, sue them. (that will lead to financial security!)
esp. if they hired someone with less experiance than you. shesh.
Gosh, as much as I'd love to, I hope to some day get hired on as a full time teacher in the county. Word spreads FAST round here, and I think if I was known as the girl who got the 30 year veteran principal in trouble for asking inappropriate questions at an interview, it might even be harder for me to get hired! :(
my dad told me the same thing....that itd be illegal for her to ask. I planned on mentioning it to her but she brought it up first. even if she didn't ask, i guess it was obvious and in her mind she was thinking, dont want a pregnant girl.....
maybe if i find a cool career doing something else i might be willing to burn my bridges with the school system! ;)

her asking you about it was illegal. take it to HR. they cannot ask any personal questions like that. they can only ask you questions related to the job. (same goes with asking if you're married or single, your religion, stuff like that). granted, it isn't going to change things but there needs to be a level playing field. bosses need to be held accountable to the law.
we had a job canadate here last year (whom we hired! she's great) who was obviously preggers at the time.
(shesh, i break my 5000 for that. hope this post amuses you!) ;)b

So, since I'm signed up for the last date....does that mean she'll soon be done? Do we know that? I could send some celebration thing..
She originally talked about the route from Boston to Santa Barbara, but I think she's on a route that goes from South Carolina to San Diego.
Hespedal just called....she seems to be doing well! She is right on track and will be in Asheville tomorrow and Tuesday. Here's to another vegweb lunch crew at Rosetta's!!!
Tell her "hi" for us. Lucky you. You get to meet all sorts of vegwebbers. I live in the same state as hespy and I've yet to make a meetup.
im gonna make some sweet potato bread and give her a loaf! i guess shes been eating mostly peanut butter and banana sandwiches. she cant wait to have a "real meal"!!!
I just got a message from Hespedal too. I didn't get as much time in the kitchen as I'd hoped this weekend :( but I made her some homemade larabars and pumkin seeds toasted with soy sauce.
I'm excited to be going back to Rosetta's!

By the time we get to me, maybe I'll have an idea of what to send. What are you thinking about sending qb? If I had a dehydrator I'd try making vegan seitan jerky, but my dehydrator money went to vet bills. Worth it, but I still want a dehydrator.

well, i don't have a dehydrator (nor a heckuva lot of time, for that matter), so i was going to keep it as simple as i could for myself. i was originally thinking snacky stuff (larabar types, nuts?), but now that i've read she's hungry for a "real meal," i'm not entirely sure! i'm probably going to include spf lip balm (i'd think this important and a pain in the butt to replace if lost (no animal testing versions, anyway) and a card or something on top of whatever food stuffs i send.
planning to visit the post office on friday - should be enough time from florida to tennessee?
i'm trying to think of heartier snacks...hmm.
