I know you probably weren't in the mood for lunch, with the school district being an ass, but how was lunch with Hesp?
Yeah, my eyes were still blood shot from crying, but how can you cry over a "buddah bowl" (rice, veggies, raw sea veggie salad, tahini bbq, tofu)? It was actually nice to get away and not think about it for a while.
Hespedal was a little ball of positive energy and spunk.....and she had the cutest shoes! They were like toe socks but shoes. We had a fun time, and great food!
She really doesnt need anything....if she forgot anything, she can buy it (she had a big bag of groceries with her!) but I am sure she would appreciate any foods that you send, as the food the trip offers is pretty nutritionless and lame. potato chips and white bread.

i've got a crapton of stuff on the agenda for tomorrow so i went to the hfs today, since i plan to mail out on friday. while i was hungry. oops. anyway, i thought everything looked super awesome and bought a plethora of treats. i tried to get dehydrated stuff b/c i'm worried about the heat and damage in the mail. it's way hot here. plus, i've never really shopped for a vegan/raw-ish person, so it was a tad intimidating - hope i got the right stuff!
even though i didn't schedule any time to make anything fabulous, i'd be pleased to receive my array of dehydrated veggies, fruits, nuts...crap, i can't even remember what i bought. i do remember they were out of the lip stuff i like, so that was scratched.
anyway, i'm on schedule! woo-hoo!

I never make homemade things. Well, I tried to make cali cupcakes once and the cupcakes stuck to the liners and I made something else that was dry. I think store-bought things are just as good for the time- (you) or skill- (me) deprived person.

I'm kinda stressed about the mail thing....there is no way she could arrive early, right? I am sending baked goods from OH to OK. I want it to get there Thurs..or should I plan to get it there Weds? I am mailing it out on Mon the 23rd....Will that be enough time?

I set my package using the two-day shipping option, which only cost a dollar more than regular shipping. I used one of the self-service kiosks in the post office and it gave me an estimated arrival date. I think that pick up dates are firmit if they are early, they probably wait it out.
Ok, I will do the 2-day shipping just because I am paranoid about it being late...I didn't realize how cheap it was...and I'm kinda cheap. ;)b so good deal!
I sent off a card today for the June 19 pickup. I included a flat Go Raw banana "bread" flax bar. I hope it's okay in Arkansas heat for a week.
It looks like VS is on the ball. I kind of am. I've packed the flour and sugar already for my hopeful move, so I went to the store and picked up some bars and nuts. I'm also going to get a bag of cookies and a tub of Just Tomatoes assorted fruit. I was going to mail it on June 26, but if it's all shelf stable, then maybe I'll finish picking up a few things today and mail it tomorrow. Nothing will go bad and it'll certainly be there in time.
I just mailed my package today! I hope it gets there in time. The guy at the post office said "99 percent guaranteed."
I sent a "you're kickass" note, vegan cookies, granola, some Chico bags, some cool dirt-scrubbing-offing-soap, some lip balm, and some mints.
Too bad I can't send her tomatoes.

eta: Ironically, when I went to the post office to mail the package, the lady was asking me if I was there for the Bike and Build pickup. I guess, they have packages there waiting to be picked up by a different group of bikers! How cool! I wish hespedal would have went thru here....

Ok.....so I should mail mine like July 7th?
I think it depends on whether you're making stuff or buying stuff with a longer shelf life. I packed my goodies in a flat rate priority box and I think they deliver the box is 2-3 days. Either way, I think it would be plenty of time if you mail it on the 10th or 11th.
