Reasons to smile
I guess not everyone needs to find a reason, but... What made you smile and/or laugh today?
My first LOL of the day was caused by this LOLdog.
I went to the uniform laundry room at work yesterday, to ask if I could try on a size smaller in my trousers. And they fit! The laundry lady asked me if I needed a new shirt, too, so I tried the next size down in that, too. And it fit! Wow. My pants had been slipping down my hips a little for weeks, but last week they got ridiculously slippy. So happy to have confirmation that my body's changing shape/size a little. :iloveyou:
Humming along to the occasional good song at work... it's amazing how much it can lift my mood. ;)b
Overhearing customers' reactions when they can't decide whether flowers are real or not. It's hilarious either way - when they think fake are real, or real are fake. ;D
it's the best feeling in the world!!
My returnee student wants 90 min a day, not 60!! Woot!
ETA: So, in the end it's only 60. Ah well, it's better than a kick in the pants. At least he wants 1 hr a day, 5 days a week.
2 reasons today:
1. buying purple hair dye
2. finding out we can still proceed with our immigration application even though the bastards at NZQA have decided after taking our money that they are not even going to assess N's qualification even though they said on the pre-assessment result that they would and that we could claim the points for it.
-its after 430 and i'm awake. for some reason that makes me happy.
sarah, aren't you waiting by the mail box? you better watch closely or you might not catch it! ohohoh! tell me when you get the package because i'm super excited to find out what you think of it!
I just taught John Donne for an hour.
Dear Donne. The man was a genius.
Keri, thanks for reminding me another reason to smile. dude i was soooooo bummed when it wasnt here when my brother brought in the mail! i was like, IS THAT ALL?!! Haha.
reason - I'm getting an awesomeeeeee gift from keri in the mail sometime soon!
my hostpial have told me that they will keep me on as a locum until the end of the year!
reason to smile 2 - I can't spell hospital!
New haircut (well, same haircut, but newly trimmed). New clothes (a slightly fitted navy-blue linen shirt and a cool short grey-blue belted trenchcoat).
The coolest bus driver ever.. friendly, talkative, verbose, witty and droll. He was just beginning his shift, and was not in a good mood, but by the time I got off the bus, he'd told me I had cheered him up with our conversation. And, as I thought to myself: vice versa.
A good chat with one of my flatmates while I was making dinner.
Dinner (healthy vegeful lasagna and the. most. delicious. salad. EVER! yay for organic farmers' market goodies!).

NZQA are a bunch of jerks, but :)
.............. Seriously? Nobody has had reason to smile since I last posted?! ??? I hope you're all just holding out on the posts here because you're too busy smiling. ;)
Anyway, me again.
Sunday! :)
To elaborate.. the day began with the best pancakes I'd made in weeks. And then, despite the mizzly-drizzly weather, we went out for a drive and a picnic. Up the hills it was really, really foggy, but we kept on going until we reached this nice little old stone shelter called the Sign Of The Bellbird. When K saw it had a fireplace, he suggested we try to find some wood and make a fire. so, we did! and, it actually burned! (after some slow, sullen smouldering) despite being composed entirely of paper and damp sticks. So we sat by the warmz and ate our sammiches and muffins and looked out at the view-utterly-obscured-by-fog. There's nothing like making fire to make you feel proud... like a clever human monkey-person. If ya know what I mean. ;D
Later in the afternoon, K said he was going to visit his family, in particular his mother, because she's going home to Iran on Tuesday. He asked me to come along. It was the second time I'd met some of them, and there were lots of new faces too. Nice people! We had dinner (there was food suitable for a vegan!) and then people talked and played games, under the instruction of the two youngest girls. I was one of two people who didn't speak farsi, so for most of the evening, everyone spoke English, which was cool of them. I kinda got to speak a little to K's mother this time, via translation, since she only speaks a word or three of English. She said she liked my muffins. Hehee..
Oh, and we told some of the folks about our drive up to the Bellbird, and we all agreed we should set up a picnic with more food, more people, and more fire; perhaps even cooking on it. I'm so looking forward to it.
oh oh oh I have reasons and have just been busy, honest!
hehehehe reason to smile # 1 : I met Theo yesterday! : D
Reason to smile # 2 : we saw some more promising houses yesterday on our regular Sunday-open-home-trawl. Like, one that we might actually put an offer in on : )
Reason to smile # 3 : I made an uncheese pasta sauce for the first time last night, and baked it in the oven with breadcrumbs and stuff and it was really really nice, and the hungry hungry husband liked it too! Mixed a few chopped up sundried tomatoes through, and the last of my most recent batch of seitan...twas goooood.
-An amazing band came over to my house today from boston on their way to miami
-I made crazy looking cookies, they look like playdough
-The band liked my vegan cookies
-My ex came over today and we actually talked like normal people instead of sitting here awkwardly even though we broke up over a year ago.
-I painted a shovel gold and we're taking it to my land judging coach that helped us win nationals in the morning
-I have 3 new cds from a rad concert
-I have a drumstick from the concert signed by a band
-The drummer in the band was at my house not wearing a shirt for like an hour or two.
So pretty much, the band is my main reason. haha.
Jack's biopsy was negative! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
THAT IS GREAT NEWS!! Yay Jack! Yay Storm!
storm, that's great! :D
Watching DHs expression as I explained the lyrics to "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog" and "Clap for the Wolfman." :-D
I just saw PrettyinPunk posted! I've been wondering about her!
I just thought of Theo's new shoes and it made me smile....in a slightly wistful way because I was wishing I had her shoes! Is it sadd to get shoe envy?!
shell, I get shoe envy alot. Shoes are one of those things I could buy a million of in one go...but they'd all be various kinds of Chucks and stuff.
Reason to smile: lastnight was the second weekly 'band practice' I've attended at my friends' place, and participated in! wooo. it's about freaking time I started doing this!
