So it is said that we learn something new every day.......so what have you learnt today?
Today I have learnt that Barry White was a vegan.

I learned that I can add any antibiotic to a media that I want, and the fungus we're looking at will still grow (yeah, duh, I know, I had just never thought about it!)

I learned that apparently I shouldn't talk about my poo in so much detail ::)

haha vebweb: the one place where poo talk is completely normal ; )
I learnt last night that my willingness to ignore the 10-second rule is directly proportional to the cost of the ingredients spilt. Cashews = waay too expensive to care about how long they were on the floor!

I can't adhere to that rule at all...if something falls on the floor, it is now trash - period. Everyone in my house, except one, would pick it up and eat it and claim the 5 second rule. I have very strict rules when it comes to food, it probably makes me sort of anal...

I never pick things back up to eat/put away once they've been on the floor. My husband, on the other hand, will eat anything, no matter where it fell/how long for/whatever. But, I learnt, my feelings against floor-food didn't outweigh my feelings against throwing away expensive ingredients. Who knew? ; ) Also, our kitchen floor is usually pretty clean, so I don't imagine there's anything terribly wrong with eating food that's been on it anyway, I just don't like to do it normally...

That makes sense, oww. Generally, depending on which/whose floor the food dropped, I might pick it up... if I were gonna cook it, I definitely would. Vegan foodz are so wonderfully unspoilable, for the most part.

I learned something interesting today. I usually buy the lentils at Aldi or Lidl, but lately you never know what you're going to get. One time they cook to mush, the next they're hard as rocks no matter how long you boil them, even though it's the same brand.
Today I stopped in the Mom and Pop shop that sells blackeyed peas and other legumes in bulk and bought a kilo of lentils. The man weighs them out for you on the scale. They were a little more expensive than Lidl's but I expected that.
What I didn't expect was there were a lot more lentils in his kilo than in Lidl's!! I have a glass jar I keep them in which is a bit over 3/4 full when I empty a Lidl-bought "kilo" package of lentils into it. The bullk-weight package filled the jar completely and I had to put about a cup and half of lentils into another jar! Hmmmm.

Yabbit, I still have a pack of lentils from Lidl which I would cook and cook and they'd never soften. It was very frustrating. I wish I had a place where I could buy things in bulk instead.
I have been learning so much in my German class. I didn't think that I wanted to be a student again for a while but I'm quite happy with it.

Everytime I discuss vegetarianism with friends and family they ask about my protein intake...well...I found out today that a lot of people (especially our meat-loving friends) might be eating too much protein.

Today I learned that an "everything" salad is even tastier with a tablespoon or two of grated coconut sprinkled over it.

I have learned NOT to try to get service in any public eatery in this city on the day before Easter. for some reason, locally, Thursday and Friday are "the big days" of Easter week. Today we couldn't get served anywhere. Then they tried to charge us for 3 glasses of wine when only 2 had been consumed. In another place we were told we could only have food "at the bar." So why were the tables set up at all?
Mounting frustration provoked one of our infrequent quarrels.
