What supplements do you take for energy boost?

I drink coffee and caffeinated teas like yerba mate and green tea but usually stay away from energy drinks like redbulls, etc...but lately have been thinking about using some herbal supplements a la ginseng, etc....for extra energy throughout the day....do you have any special tips for added energy for the day? I have a ton to do like everybody else i'm sure, but feel spent way too early...any tips are very much appreciated thanks :)
I have found that when I drink coffee regularly, overall I feel less energized, aside from the initial energy boost. When I go for a while without, my energy levels remain more consistent.
As far as the supplement thing, Vega is so awesome! It was formulated by a vegan triathlete with all whole foods, no soy, wheat, corn, completely vegan. His name is Brendan Brazier and he wrote The Thrive Diet. He advocates a plant based diet.

Energy:
Supplements/Vitamins:
*B Complex*
Ginseng
Chicory
Guarana
*Vitamin C*
*Iron*
Calcium
Omega 3's (flax oil)
Foods:
Nuts! (Protein+fat = sustained energy!)
Citrus/High C fruits (cranberries, etc)
Quinoa
Whole Grains/legumes
Green Smoothies!!!
WATER!!!
Beware the "coffee nod". Caffeine of any sort has a tendency to not only dehydrate you, but also send you into "crash mode" a few minutes/hours later, worse off than you would have been than if you had just forgone the coffee in the first place.

find that, in my case anyway, with a steady program of physical (regular exercise & balanced vegan diet) & mental (academic work), i manage pretty well with no supplements; i don't drink coffee, do limit my tea, but consume a lot of water, esp. when i'm working out ...

Thank you !! :)
Blue-green algae. It's superfood w/ a complete protein chian--it rocks! You can get it in tablet form at whole foods for like $10 a bottle (which is REALLY inexpensive for it!!).
Also--I'm on raw right now and train a lot and have a freaking ton of energy...I'm always going--and don't sleep much.

Thanks Capture!
if i'm feeling unenergized, i like to eat something raw. like a big salad with avocado, nuts, seeds and a variety of colors of vegetables. that usually gets me going.

MmmMMMmmm! Now that is what i'm talking about! Getting your energy from fresh, raw food is the way to go!!!
I think caffeine affects people differently. If I drink it regularly (like when I worked at Starbucks), it really had no effect - I had to drink A LOT (more than I'd like to) to feel anything. Now that I don't drink coffee that often, when I do I do feel the effect, but I don't crash.
I drink tea (not for the purpose of energy), and I never notice the caffeine too much. Maybe because it has less than coffee, or because I drink some nice green tea (and the younger the plant, apparently the more caffeine-binding/inhibiting stuffs it has. as in, you don't get the caffeine or you get it slowly).
I've learned to treat fatigue with:
water
sugar
Sometimes I do eat raw veg/fruits too. Good source of both water and a few sugars!
I don't do herbal-type things... as a broke college student, I don't have the disposable income to investigate these things, and as a runner (sort of), usually my fatigue is from exercise, so water's usually the best option. It's surprising how much fatigue turns out to be from dehydration!
Raw foods are a great choice!
Wheat grass is know superfood, I grow my own.
Eating a decent balanced meal in the morning gets me going.
I really like my raw soaked oatmeal and nuts, hemp oil, kale, wheat grass and coconut milk.
I am trying to lay off the coffee, I am out and have not bought more this weekend....
B complex and spirulina :o
Want me to tell that or you guys know?
Simple.....NJ Pickle, NJ Relish, NJ Hot sauce, and occassional Thai Chilli pickle. :-D

yowza! haha
I used to drink a red bull before school every morning, but now I don't.
I try to get a good night's sleep and focus the best I can. Energy drinks don't really have an effect on me, I just drank them for the taste and because it was "cool" at my school. *ashamed*
I occasionally grab a monster from the convenience store, but in general, I like to keep my beverages to water.
Hi!
Every day I take:
multivitamin
flax seed oil capsule
B- vitamin
calcium
For energy I'll eat something with both protein and sugar in it: a protein bar, a few handfuls of nuts and chocolate chips, sliced apple coverd in peanut butter, etc.
I avoid coffee and drinks with caffeine. They make me uncomfortably jittery for a few hours, then I'm exhausted...
Also, regular exercise increases your energy levels-- among other good things.
While most vitamins/ supplements are not necessary if you eat a balanced diet in order to get all the needed vitamins from food, every vegan/ raw foodist needs to take a vitamin B12 supplement.
B12 helps make red blood cells, and having a defiency makes you feel weak/ tired, and can lead to anemia.
We veggies don't get that vitamin in our food, because B12 is a bacteria and only animal foods contain it due to bacterial contamination. Yee-ha.

I've battled low energy for the past few years, despite working out 3 times a week(weight resistance) and eating healthy foods. Eventually, I just had to face the fact that my cardiovascular fitness level was pathetic. For me, it was the only way to develop a lasting, high level of energy. I've been running every other day for awhile now(roughly 3 miles a pop) and I've definetly noticed a big difference. Now, I'll be the first to admit that getting your CVS in shape is not the most pleasant experience but in the long run, it was worth those initial runs of being physically devastated afterward. I really look forward to those 30-45 minutes in the morning now. So, that would be my advice. I know you might be pressed for time like most of us, but if you can manage 20-30 minutes, 3-4 times a week to really get your heart rate up doing whatever workout you want, your energy level will get stronger. Guarantee it.
