http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=22383;type=avatar

Starting this week, we'll be shining the spotlight on a member of the VegWeb community who goes above and beyond to make VegWeb a truly excellent place to spend time on the internet! This shining VegWeb Superstar will be featured in our weekly newsletter that goes out to thousands of people every Wednesday.

Our inaugral post is the fabulous Hespedal! Check out her profile here: http://vegweb.com/index.php?action=profile;u=55657 and read her funny, smart answers to our questionnaire below! And
stay tuned for next week's Superstar VegWebber...it could be YOU! Nobody is safe and there are plenty of you who deserve the recognition!

VegWebber since? March, 2006 was my registration date, but I used the site before that.

Vegetarian, Vegan or ? Vegan, occasionally raw

Where do you call home? San Luis Obispo, Ca

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? I'm always on VegWeb. No kidding. I spent most of my time cooking, going on bike rides, hanging out with my VegWebbin' guy, and being a slave to the wage.

Do you have a blog or website? Yes! But i rarely update it. http://theeatinghabitsofalazyvegan.blogspot.com/

Do you tweet? Like a little bird. But on twitter? no.

One unique thing people should know about you? I've biked across the US. Scratch that, I've had my hand run over by a mailman!

What's the best thing about being vegan? Eating the cookies dough and not having to worry about salmonella.

Favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? The whipped cream recipes!

Favorite VegWeb recipe to make for non-vegans? PMS pie! How could anyone possibly argue with such genious? Feeding them that, we should just call them pre-gan rather than non-vegan.

Favorite holiday VegWeb Recipe? Green bean casserole!

Best/Funniest/Most Delicious/Most Disastrous experience you've had making a recipe on VegWeb? The twisted cumin sticks. Usually, as I am going along I fix everything that I can tell is going to be gross, but these I just left be. They tasted like... *drum roll* phyllo dough. They also looked like huge joints. But that might be inappropriate to mention?

One thing you wish you could make vegan but haven't succeeded yet? Peach rings! I hate them, but I want to make them for a certain vegan that loves them.

#1 cooking secret/tip? Taste as your go along! Everyone has different tastebuds, why trust others' recipes?

Best music to cook by? Reggae.

Three people you'd most like to have dinner with? I would probably choose boring people that I know. Dustin, my friend Vivianne, and I would let Dustin pick someone, too, because I'm that nice.

All time favorite restaurant? Shine Cafe

French Fries or ice cream? Can't I have both? I'd probably choose the ice cream.

Soy, rice, or almond milk? Almond or hemp.

Tempeh, tofu, or seitan? Tempeh... all the way! But really, it depends what I am making. I love me some tofu scramble.

Now it's your turn to tell Hespedal how awesome she is and what a great, rich community VegWeb is because she's a part of it!

Personally, Hespedal was one of the first people to ever join/save me when I was hanging out (rather pathetically  by myself) in the chatroom! She's been nothing short of a spectacular in showing me the VegWeb ropes and I, for one, am so grateful that she's here! Plus, her main photo couldn't be any cuter. It's ridiculously adorable!

E-HIGHFIVE, HESPY!

Aw.  I just want to squeeze your cheeks!  And go out for drinks one day.

eta:  This made me laugh, based on the name of your blog.

Yay hesp!

I always feel like "hesp" should be an adjective.  For anything that is awesome in a hesp-like way.  You could be like, "that's so hesp."

I can't wait to meet you, hesp! <3

This is great, and so is hespy.  She's gone out of her way to make me and many others feel welcome.

Hesp is way beyond awesome! She sent me a care package with a ton of lifesaving goodies when I went away to school, and it made me  :)>>>

And I agree about hesp sounding like an adjective. Perhaps I will try to work it into conversations..and then people will think I'm a weirdo.

You mean, like:

Get hespy with it.

=or=

I be hespin'.

More like:

"Yesterday I went to Goodwill and saw this really hesp dress and it was only 2 dollars so I bought it and now I'm wearing it."

"Oh? Yeah it is pretty hesp! I like it."

I like saying it in my head because of the sp sound, though god knows I'd never be able to actually say it. In my fridge video I tried to say hespedal but failed miserably and felt like an idiot.  :-[

This is an awesome way to validate a special person, & to encourage others.
I enjoyed reading Hespedal's bio, & interview. It was a fun way to get the feel for this web  site.
I'm new here, & am just trying to finally go vegetarian.
