Ghostly Garlic Toss? (NVR)

i've been thinking about this all morning and am not sure what to make of it.  so i'm gonna put it out here on vegweb.

i keep my garlic on the back shelf of the stove, like on top of where the clock and knobs are, just chilling up there, sitting.  i have a standard sized stove, maybe 2 1/2 or 3 feet long?  anyway, i walk straight into the kitchen after waking up, groggy as hell (i'm a way deep sleeper), and go to open the fridge when i hear something fall behind me.  i turn and the garlic is on the floor, maybe another foot or so in front of the stove.  i can't figure out how that happened!  it's driving me crazy!!

my cats were both on the floor by my feet, so it wasn't one of them.  i live in an apartment, but it's a pretty solid building and i've never felt any vibrations or anything from doors shutting in other apts. - not that i recall hearing one shut at that time anyway.  but i'm bugged because i think that's quite a ways for my garlic to fly off the back of the stove!

thoughts?

btw, i grew up outside of charleston, sc, and all my family is from savannah, so i've been raised on ghost stories, BUT i'm not sure i really believe in them.  and if i start thinking about it, i know i'll wind up scaring the crap out of myself as i live alone.  i was eyeing that corner of the kitchen all morning anyway...

that is so weird!!  i do know that its not a ghostly vampire : )  they hate garlic!  hehe.

My first thought is that the garlic is not a shape that makes for easy or flat sitting on a surface that is prone to be jostled like a stove.  Perhaps the kitties were playing with it last night and you walking on the kitchen floor made it tumble.

I like spooky things as much as the next gothy gal but my first thought is kitty suspects or the shape of the garlic not lending itself to sitting perfectly where placed.

aah, yes...duh.  thank you for pointing out the obvious, Cali!  i'd hate to be suspicious of that corner of the kitchen all weekend...although i still wonder:  how did it get knocked off?  i didn't touch it, nor was i near enough to create a breeze or whatever to knock it off...ah, whatever.  i'm going with your theory so i don't freak myself out.  ;)b

hiimkelsi - you are so right.  i've got no bloodsucking paranormalities in my place!  woo!

If that's the best that your ghosts can do, I think you'll be ok!  >:D

Did you guys feel the midwest earthquake this morning? it started in indiana and was felt hundreds of miles away--maybe the garlic was plopped off by that? It was a 5.2! But the garlic ghost would be cooler!

Nope, I lived in California & those are the best ones. These are nothing in Indiana.

Do you hear little critters scurrying about when your cats are slacking? Mice

yeah, not mice.  no earthquake, either.  i'm sticking with the cat theory, although i still don't get how the garlic jumped off the counter.  i reenacted the event for my friend, and she was a bit suspicious, too.

movin' on from all that, though.  thanks for the reassurances - my occasionally neurotic and definitely over-analytical mind appreciates it!
