Heli's happy headhunt post (is headhunting vegan?) ;D made me aware of so many good things this week.
--Two of my students were afraid they wouldn't be able to study what/where they wanted because of their entrance exam results. BOTH get to study here in town, and do what they wanted. One future doctor, one future architect. Both young women of talent.
--Another student aced her English exams so she will finish her degree before the fall term starts. Whee!!
--And I am seeing light at the end of the weight-loss tunnel. Even if he did take away my cheese, at least temporarily!
Am dying to share some good news with you all but have been sworn to secrecy for now...need a biting lip emoticon ???
Any thing to do with a baby? (C'mon, guys, let's see if we can winkle it out of her!!) ;D
(Query: Why do people who are preggy like to keep it a secret? I mean, eventually everybody's gonna know. A lot sooner than most new mummies think.)
OMG...NO! There are no babies on my horizon. My baby will be 18 in a few days LOL
My news has to do with him....& no, there are no babies in his immediate future either. If everything pans out for him, it is pretty exciting. He told me if I said anything before it's official, he'll kill me....don't think he'd actually do it though >:D
Today is our 4 year anniversary. Woohoo!!
:)>>>
I have friends! And I also went home for the weekend.
But this is the best...
I painted my kitchen a really great olive green, cleaned the hardwood floors, and get to spend the chilly evening curled up with a nice cup of tea and a cat or two :)

My vote is for a pro/semi-pro sports team.
Had a great dinner with greenT and her fiance last night. Mmmmm, vegan pizza and vegwebbers!
It was a blast, except for when the bill came. I didn't even know you could get a draft for $9.95! That should be illegal.

Do I sense a big promotion in the works?
I've been officially Vegan for 1 week! yay!! :) ;D
We have a new foster dog named Ross. He's a Catahoula and is adorable. He's laying on me right now, making it difficult to type :)

congrats!! keep up the good work!
I'm craving paaaastaaaa! (pasta)
And that's a good thing. Heavy grains like pasta and rice (as you may know) are challenges for me. I haven't had pasta (excluding rice noodles, which don't count in my mind) in... well, I think years. I may not try to make any this week, but I will attempt something in the kitchen. I think I'm going to make a rice and lentil dish. I'm going to cook and have leftovers for my busy week. I promise you/myself that!

OMG a Catahoula????? I second this full heartedly!!! My dad is on his third Catahoula Leopard pup.
I don't live in Houston anymore!
I feel you on that one! I used to live in Galveston.
Good news: I'm still alive and breathing.
storm...we have a lot geographically in common! remember I used to live near tampa....and have relatives there. my brothers lives in galveston still.on avenue O. they did evacuate though and are OK.
do you know anyone in NC mountains???
oh, and for some good news.....lets see.
lyle had his 2 month appt.
he has grown from 6 lbs 6 oz (and then down to under 6 in the hospital)
to 10 pounds 8 ounces! and he grew 4 inches!
all from mommies "vegan" milk.
that makes me proud!
I got a Wii Fit!
Since it came out, we've casually walked by the electronics department of any store we've gone to. Usually we're met by a bit empty space at the Wii Fits. But this time, there was one there, just waiting for us!
Good timing too, DH and I were getting pretty down about our real estate situation. Then we got the Wii Fit, and our night was spent on that instead of on worrying about whether our condo was ever going to sell.
For the first time in 10 years, I went through the entire summer and DIDN'T use a wheelchair!!! There are still a few hot days ahead, but still, my knees have been holding up pretty well, all things considered.
I got promoted to key holder at my job at Powell's Sweet Shoppe!!
YAY!!!! ;D

Wooohooo!!
Here's to the good fortune of our VW friends! *raises mug* hooray!
....I got a job! *finally*
I'll eventually post a blog about it, probably...
"Came out" as a vegetarian to my ex-husband! I was a bit apprehensive about this as I was worried that he would give me a hard time about feeding our little boy a vegetarian diet at home. :-\ The great thing was that he was ok with it! :) Didn't mention that I have been phasing out dairy products as well (thought this might be a bit too much for him to take in at the moment). We have our own chooks at home which my little boy adores and loves to help me with taking care of them and while they are still laying eggs we are using the eggs in our cooking, although when they stop our backyard will turn into their retirement village and we certainly wont be buying any eggs. It has been great getting back to the things I believe in and telling people about it. ;)b

I'm glad to hear your brothers are ok. The pictures of the island are horrifying. Worse than when I rode out Alicia there in 1983.
I don't know anyone in the mountains, but on the coast. When my daughter graduates from high school I'm hoping to make a move to Ashville. I love it up there!
