Reasons to smile
I guess not everyone needs to find a reason, but... What made you smile and/or laugh today?
My first LOL of the day was caused by this LOLdog.
I went to the uniform laundry room at work yesterday, to ask if I could try on a size smaller in my trousers. And they fit! The laundry lady asked me if I needed a new shirt, too, so I tried the next size down in that, too. And it fit! Wow. My pants had been slipping down my hips a little for weeks, but last week they got ridiculously slippy. So happy to have confirmation that my body's changing shape/size a little. :iloveyou:
Humming along to the occasional good song at work... it's amazing how much it can lift my mood. ;)b
Overhearing customers' reactions when they can't decide whether flowers are real or not. It's hilarious either way - when they think fake are real, or real are fake. ;D
Rats! I got "Insert deactivated by request" on that video.
Don't forget Rick Ghastly (uh, Astley) when handing out prizes for worst dance moves evah.
Shoot!
Here's the regular ol' link, for your viewing hilarity.

well, my reason NOT to smile is that I've had a fever the past couple days, and today lost my voice :/ guess the last two weekends of partying have caught up with me.
But my reasons to smile: I've been able to leave work early this week when I've been sick (thank goodness for not having to stay and work for 12 hours!!!)
I also scored a Sunday pass to my city's annual outdoor music festival, Hillside, which I have never gone to!
Chatting with secondbase (and others). ;)b
^^ totally jealous
Reason to smile: handing in my notice at work.

Really? How much notice? Does that mean you're getting ready to flyyyy over here and see us? : )
Reason to smile: we made an appointment with the bank for this weekend to discuss home loans. I may be insane, but I am ridiculously happy at the prospect of saddling myself with life-long crippling debt.
i'd smile if my life-long crippling debt meant i had a house with a yard and a bunny room, reptile room, and office, and at least one bedroom (so technically at least four!).
...yeah, definitely life-long crippling debt. haha.
i'd have to deliver A LOT of pizzas to get that.

hehe, our house is definitely going to have a 'yard', a drum room, a bedroom and the biggest bestest kitchen I can afford . And you are all invited to come eat drink cook laugh and be.
I live in a small house with 70s fake paneling and avocado and mustard with gold sparkly seahorse wall paper. However, the mortgage is only a couple hundred bucks more than my rent was. You can do it, depending.

not yet. Immigration application to be put in next month. I finish my position at work on September 18th. Then I have decided to locum. As a locum I only have to give a couple of days notice wherever work. AND my current hospital has asked me to stay on a locum in the exact same role - locums get paid twice my hourly rate. So same job, double the money.
Even if they don't want me to stay on it's fine. I decided to locum as I'll need all money possible to move to Nz.
My grad student paid me my regular hourly rate for the time I spent proofreading the first 2 chapters of his dissertation. And there will be more eventually.
Said student is improving by leaps and bounds. I wish my literature students were as good.
The lady who saved my sanity and probably my life will be here on Sunday and Monday for a visit. I haven't seen her for about 15 years. She's my brother's ex (for reasons good!) and she still wants to see me! I'm just a bit sad we can't afford to spoil her like I'd like to.
We have decent AC this year. For the first time in 26 years I am not cross and lethargic (I wrote thelargic first) all summer long.
Reason to smile: the image of underSarah, hand all sticky and covered in peanut butter, warning her family away from her food. Made my afternoon.

Good deal : ) That sounds amazing. I'd love to be paid double to do the same job, I think we all would. Incidentally, what hospital do you work at? My best mate worked in a hospital in London for a while last year, and is probably heading back later this year...
I'm currently at Northwick Park. It's not really a 'London' hospital as in it's not central London. But it is a big hospital that is quite well known.
I've worked in a couple of other hospitals in London though. Where was your friend?
She was doing admin work for a cancer unit at St Bart's.
Reason to smile: I bought a pizza wheel, a potato masher, two ladles, a draining spoon, two large forks, two spatulas, four measuring cups, two measuring spoons and a corkscrew for $5.50/ US$3.55 yesterday. Woooo bargains : )

wow, what a bargain! how did you manage that? at first i thought in the middle of that you said you also bought "two ladies". i guess two ladies to put all of that kitchen stuff to good use? ;)
i'm such a terrible feminist! i really am!
reason to smile: i am actually enjoying being a "cute little blonde who doesn't know much" for once because it got me out of a traffic ticket. yay! (and by the way, i do know stuff, but i can pull of ignorance quite well)
I got a payrise today. 8) Just a little one; I still won't be getting paid as much as I'm worth.. but, hey, it's better than a poke in the eye. ;D It's a start. ;)b
Reason to smile: Last night's potluck and game night with stillflat, KMK, algae, and CeltKat!
