You are here

You know what really grinds my gears.......

Ok so maybe I'm just a weirdo, but there's silly little things that really bug me for no apparent reason - what about the rest of you?  Is there any little thing that really annoys you, but probably shouldn't that much?

Ok I'll start:

I hate it when peolpe jiggle their legs up and down when they're sitting down.  Some people will do this continually and I HATE IT.  There's no logic to my annoyance but it really bugs me.

It also bugs me when women put their make up on on public transport - just wake up earlier if you want to wear it - and don't give people dirty looks when they stare at you.

My mother. Not only does she not give me an answer most the time when i ask her question, but lately she wont eat dinner/lunch at all but one bite, and half the time breakfast. I personally buy her meat b/c she is the only meat eater in the house and she needs to eat. so I cook her completely seperate meals for dinner, and she sits there. i ask her multiple times if she needs help, she says no, i ask her if she is going to eat she says yes. still doesn't touch the food, then gets up and does a handwave that she is going to bed. i know the food is good, omnifriends are usually here all the time and try it/help make it. this is really pissing me off and i don't know what to do about it.

well if she ain't gonna eat i wouldn't bother cooking her separate meat meals... it seems like she wants attention or something...

thanks yabbit, she is 48, 47 when she had her stroke.. and is mobile on the one hand.... i feel many of the things she does is on purpose.... i am also pms'ing... could be the reason everyone hid from me this evening. I am going to see her doctor with her on monnday. i wish it was as simple as feeding her, she (as far as my knowledge goes) has been an ed sufferer most her life. thank you Yabbit.

amy - she will always decline when asked if she is hungry.... and since i am her caregiver... if i don't feed her i can get into trouble. :(

WGMG:  being left to clean up someone else's mess at work.

I understand that it was a big job, and that you didn't get it done Friday afternoon,  but coming in on Sunday afternoon (my monday morning) to see my incoming work table (you have an inbox, I have a table  :P ), overflowing with a half-done job that I now have to search all over the shop to find the work order and blueprints for, NOT COOL.  >:(    I mean, you could have at LEAST got all the parts out of the truck that picked them up at the contractor's and brought them into the building...
This shall make Revvie into a crankenass for the rest of the night.

Also, in relation to the above:  HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE!  we have machine tooling for every job.  DO NOT cobble 2 tools together with electrical tape :o and then proceed to stick them in a machine that is going to put 5,000 lb/sqin on them!

:nono:

There are loads of things going on in my family (and extended family) that are pretty stressfull and I am trying to do the right thing for all parties involved and I end up looking like the a-hole in the situation.  Not cool.

my fucking toilet has clogged twice in the past week. both times i didn't shit, or use an excessive amount of toilet paper. this time, my friend told me it was clogged, but i was on my way to class so i didn't bother looking at it. i get back and there is literally another person's SHIT in my toilet. it wasn't my friend because she noticed it was clogged before she could use it. WHAT THE EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. why is someone else's shit about to overflow all over my room? it's so gross. and i don't own a plunger. so tomorrow i'm gonna have to go buy one. until then i cant pee or poop in my own toilet. with the amount of rent i pay here, i should have a fucking butler personally unclogging my toilet for me.

Sounds like the sewer line in the building, not your toilet. I bet you anything the sewer is full of tree roots. Your landlord has to deal with that, or you can have the Health Department on his butt.

Yeah, I'd definitely let building management know.  Although they may not do anything about it, but if it backs up into your apartment and causes any sort of damage, you'll at least have established it's a systemic historical problem.  Document the notification.

this is my mom too, and she like yours has also suffered with an ed in her past, eats tons of sweets (peachy O's and sour worms like no other) and does the never giving a straight answer/hand wave dismissal thing! I'm not her caretaker so I don't have the stress of potentially getting in trouble for not taking making her eat but she gets sick often and each time loses more weight so I'm perpetually worried about her. I spent a lot of time during my teenage years bent on trying to help her develop a more healthy view on eating but, especially when the case is between mother and daughter, it leads to more problems to push the idea on them because you have that additional weird power struggle. I've concluded that in the end, only she can help herself. And she has to want to.

I have to disagree with you on this.  I doubt it's tree roots.  More likely (if this house has predominantly been rented to females) it's a buildup of tampons, pads, paper towels and other misc stuff.  I oversee emergency and preventative maintenance for a nationwide chain of 550 stores and 99% of the plumbing issues I deal with are a result of people flushing things down the toilet that don't belong there.

Well she has lost 6 lbs in a month, which isn't good since she is incredibly skinny as it is.... I have taken all of her chocolate away (stored it in the outside freezer) and told her if she actually eats i will give it to her. saddly i think that if this all continues i am going to have to send her back to the home. I really don't want to get in trouble for her not eating.. at least before she had the stroke it was all her choice... now that she has some damage, they look at me more. she has literally had 2 bites of food today. that is it. keeps telling me that she will eat later... but then i end up throwing it all away the next day. and now getting her to take her pills is like pulling teeth. I am at my wiits end... I don't think she is any happier here than she was at the home, and i am stressed to the max, and moody as all hell. I have bought her canned vienna sausages... you know the kind made with every animal product/bi product known to man.. she will eat those once in a while... I seriously need help.

Jesse, I'm sure you have seen that having a stroke can totally change a person's personality. I remember the vet in our town who was a tower of animal compassion, had a stroke and suddenly couldn't stand to even be around animals!
Don't feel guilty if you finally have to send her back to the home. You're not trained to handle this sort of thing and it takes some doing. Besides, as Amy says, there's the whole mother-daughter tug of war. She still sees herself as "older than you so I know better" and "you're a kid, don't try to tell me what I want/need." It's easier for her to ignore you than it would be an outsider who doesn't have the emotional element. My pastor's wife is learning this. She finally put her elderly aunt in a home and was devoured by guilt--until she saw that Aunty suddenly did all the things she refused to do at home, like her physio and stuff.
