Ok so maybe I'm just a weirdo, but there's silly little things that really bug me for no apparent reason - what about the rest of you? Is there any little thing that really annoys you, but probably shouldn't that much?
Ok I'll start:
I hate it when peolpe jiggle their legs up and down when they're sitting down. Some people will do this continually and I HATE IT. There's no logic to my annoyance but it really bugs me.
It also bugs me when women put their make up on on public transport - just wake up earlier if you want to wear it - and don't give people dirty looks when they stare at you.
No, Karma's not vegan - she sometimes needs to resort to any means necessary to punish those who offend her. To coin a phrase from our dear vh, "Karma is only a bitch if you are."
Since T-mobile doubled the cost of my phone warranty protection I decided to remove it from my plan. I tried doing this online and their website hung up every time I hit submit so I entered the customer service chat option and got freakin' put on hold indefinitely so I finally called their customer service and the rep. said she needed me to give her a reason for removing the warranty protection. I told her it was my f**king account and I didn't need a f**cking reason! Last week I cancelled a different service and got the same crap. My reason is because I f**king said so! Just do it twat waffle!

This!!
My phone company calls me twice a year to try talking me into a contract. Which I don't want. They call every day for a week until I get mad and yell at them. I have to remind them that it's my phone, and I make the decisions.
"Are you the owner of this phone?"
I must be, it's in my pocket and I answered it.
That sets the tone for the "conversation."
Eventually I tell them if they don't get off my case I'll change companies. That usually does it.
They even get mad when they offer me the latest cellphone and I say no, thank you. I don't want a camera, or Internet, or TV capability. I just want something that takes and gives calls. I have that.
"But why don't you want a contract?" (Like, are you insane?)
Because I don't. I'm an adult, and I know what I want, and I don't want a contract.

We had soooooooooo many problems with T-Mobile that we finally switched. We had to wait until our contract ran out though because they were going to charge us $200 for each phone if we tried to switch while still on contract.
I haven't really had any major problems with T-Mobile other than this crap, though they do some irritating things like sending constant texts about upgrading services. I've been out from under contract for a year but if I went with another carrier I'd just get stuck with a contract under them.
Have you ever thought of using something like Straight Talk? That's what I use right now. If you talk and text a lot then you can get the unlimited plan (you buy a card each month) and I think that one is $40. You can also get some internet on the phones and internet is included in the package.
And that's exactly why I refuse to get a contract. Aside from the fact that here contract phones get hacked into easier. I put money on my card and it's pay-as-you-go.
I just saw someone who I know has no education in psychology, psychiatry or anything like that telling someone who has Bipolar Disorder and PTSD that diet and homeopathy will cure her and to not use medications because they don't work and are a ploy by the drug companies to make money.
'because they don't work and are a ploy by the drug companies to make money."
You know how Sigmund Freud, the father of modern psychiatry, treated his patients for depression? Cocaine - and lots of it. In fact, the great doctor self medicated with cocaine for many years, hopelessly addicted while making some of his greatest "discoveries." And not any of the watered down versions we get on our streets or in our schools today but true-blue uncut white! There are people in prison for life for doing what he did every day for much of his career. And yet the good doctor laid the foundation around what modern psychiatry with big pharma uses as a model today.
I know about Sigmund Freud, cocaine and medication. I'm a psych student. And what you've stated has nothing to do with what I've said.

wow minke, that was kinda harshhhhh

She's right, though, it doesn't.
While I agree that the modern psychiatric profession does overprescribe and doesn't really always know the long-term effects of a given medication (look at all those young kids on "antidepressants" that make them suicidal), there are some underlying organic disorders that create mental disorders and can best be adressed with medication.
For example, I have thyroid disease. When my meds are off and need re-calibrating I suffer from panic attacks and depression. It's really weird because the attacks tend to come at about the same time every evening, no matter what I'm doing: about 7.15-7.30. I'll be just sitting there, doing whatever, and suddenly my heart is racing and I can't breate and I am terrified. Blood test, tweak the meds--a week or so later I'm fiine.
yes i know it has nothing to do with what minke said but she could have been a little nicer :) no offense darling <3
and i could be a wicked witch and say your little story was a tad bit off topic too ::) though i enjoyed reading it LOL
I actually just wanted to get a few facts in on the subject, in advance of the opinions - academic, anecdotal or otherwise. In that sense those facts are the only relevant thing thus far. That last sentence was an opinion...ut oh, I am in the gutter with everyone else on this now ;)
Your "facts" had nothing to do with the subject.

That's your opinion.

Um, yeah. Whatever.
Your "facts" had nothing to do with the subject.
I fail to see how CFF's facts had nothing to do with the subject. You brought up the topic that it GYG because someone with no education in psychiatry, etc was giving bad advise on treatment of a mental illness. I interpreted CCF's comments to mean that Freud most likely gave bad treatment advise as well since he was heavily addicted to a narcotic and his judgement is questionable. Both his comment and yours have to do with people giving possibly harmful advise based on their opinions and perception of an issue. Seems like they're the same subject matter to me. I would think that if you consider yourself to be an educated psych student that you'd be able to look at and interpret someone's comments from multiple angles instead of being rude because it doesn't coinside with what you think.
My supermarket got some new shopping carts (trolleys) that are a different size from the old ones...but they're mostly still using the old ones. The new ones have a shallower basket thingy and no child seat. I still use the old ones. So, WRGMG is, they're the kind of carts where you have to put in a $1 coin and have to clip them together when you're done to get the $1 back. The new carts fit into the old ones, but not the other way around. So if you need to put one back and someone has put a new one at the end, your're SOL. I had to go to 3 different trolley bay things to find one with an old cart at the end so I could put mine away. Luckily I was shopping on a weekend, so Vincent was home with DH...it would have been even more of an issue if I had had him with me. But WHY would they have 2 different sized carts? >:(
yeah thats really dumb
